Kiddie Roth IRA — Fund Child's Roth from Legitimate Earned Income

Pay your kid W-2/1099 wages from your business, contribute up to $7K/yr to their Roth — 60+ years of tax-free growth.

Overview

Any child with earned income can fund a Roth IRA up to the lesser of earnings or $7K/yr (2024). Business owners can hire kids for legitimate work (modeling for marketing, office cleaning, social media) at reasonable wages; kids under 18 employed by parent's unincorporated business owe no FICA (§3121(b)(3)(A)), and the first $14,600 (std deduction) is FIT-free. Fund Roth from those earnings. $7K/yr from age 10 to 18 compounding at 8% to age 65 = ~$1.2M tax-free. Must be REAL work with reasonable pay + timesheets.
