TX exempts urban homestead up to 10 acres + rural up to 200 (family) / 100 (single) with no dollar cap — plus no state income tax.

Overview

Texas Property Code Chapter 41 exempts homestead from forced sale by unsecured creditors. Urban homestead: up to 10 acres. Rural: up to 200 acres (family) / 100 acres (single). No dollar cap — million-dollar mansions fully protected. Combines with no state income tax and generous business-friendly climate. Establish via: designation form filed with county, primary residence use, TX driver's license + voter registration. Prior-state creditors CAN pursue proceeds during first 40 months (BAPCPA §522(o)-(p) limits some transfers).
